An epitope is an antigenic determinant, a biological structure or sequence to which an antibody binds. Recombinant DNA technology enables the insertion of specific foreign sequences to genes of interest. When these sequences
encode short peptides they create an antigeni determinant (epitope)that can be recognized by antibodies.These
fusion proteins can b identified and purified by using epitope tag specific antibodies, which simplifies the
time-consuming and labor intensive task of antibody generation. Since antibodies to the peptide tag are commercially
available,there is no need to generate specific antibodies to identify, immunoprecipitate or immunoaffinity purify
the protein. Moreover, in most cases the stable fusion protein has the same bioactivity and biodistribution as the native
protein. The most commonly used epitope tags include His tag, HA tag,c-Myc tag, GST tag, and FLAG tag.Due to the
